Even numbers selling for more than odd numbers
GetAgent (https://www.getagent.co.uk/) analysed sold price records from the Land Registry. They looked at homes to have sold across England and Wales in 2024. Then they looked how house number popularity influenced both market activity and the price paid for property.
The research shows that when it comes to the price paid, even numbers come out on top versus their odd counterparts. The average sold price for even-numbered property transactions was 2.5% higher than the average price paid for odd-numbered properties.
The research also suggests that even-numbered homes are more likely to sell. 22% more even-numbered homes sold versus odd-numbered properties in 2024.
Despite this, the most popular number based on total transaction volumes was the number 3. 13,352 sales over the course of 2024 were for properties with the number 3. The number 2 appropriately ranked second in this respect with 13,270 transactions, with number 1 proving the third most popular number (13,256).
Interestingly the remaining top 20 most popular numbers largely sit in numerical order from 4 to 21 with just one number missing – the number 13.

Odd numbers also top the table when it comes to market values. Over the last year, it’s number 215 that boasts the highest average sold price at £334,000. Number 1 saw the highest total market value of homes sold at £4.9bn.
Numbers can play an important role in many cultures. Perhaps the most obvious example is the superstitions surrounding the number 13. Whilst these may be dismissed by the majority of buyers, it’s clear such superstitions can influence the market. For example, the number 13 is the only number from 1 to 20 missing from the most popular list of numbers based on transaction volume.
