Harlow crime rate All Crimes August 2025

Jukes Estate Agents Harlow start their second in depth look at crime rates in Harlow and where it sits in the bigger picture of Essex and surrounding areas.

Jukes did their first one back in February 2025 and have decided to continue it on a 6 month basis.

Sales and Marketing Director Geoff Flewers explains: “I started these blogs about crime in Harlow because I felt that Harlow was getting a lot of flack for being a horrible nasty town. The reality is that whilst any crime is unwelcome and whilst one crime is one too many, people need to be given the facts. As you will see from this blog and those that follow, Harlow sits mid to low table when it comes to Essex. Therefore, before people start ‘having a go’ at how bad Harlow is, they should look at the bigger picture and see that there many many places in Essex (never mind the entire country), that are far worse off than Harlow and in many cases, Harlow is extremely safe in comparison to many other towns.”

Here, Jukes deals with various crime catagories:

Firstly, Anti Social Behaviour was our first blog that was published on 26th August.

Secondly, Burglary was done on 27th August.

We then looked at Criminal Damage & Arson on 28th August.

The following day we looked at Drugs (29th August).

Possession of Weapons followed on 30th August.

Followed by Robbery on 31st August.

Then it was Vehicle Theft on 1st September.

Today is Violent Crime.

Finally, today, we will look at All Crimes.

There are many people that believe Harlow will ‘top the charts’ for an array of crimes. The following data is supplied by Plumpot (https://a.plumplot.co.uk/).

Geoff’s View

Sales and Marketing Director Geoff Flewers says: “It is very frustrating when I see people ‘slagging off’ Harlow as being ‘the most dangerous town in Essex’. All of the evidence of the blogs I have written recently about Harlow crime rates proves that Harlow is FAR from the most dangerous place to live in Essex. Yes, crime is too high, but it is too high everywhere & to single out Harlow is unfair and most definitely untrue.

“I took a vast array of crimes”:

“Crime is too high EVERYWHERE. However, when it comes down to the nitty gritty, Harlow crime stats show that is is NOWHERE NEAR THE WORSE OR MOST DANGEROUS PLACE TO LIVE IN ESSEX.”

The stats below surely bear that out”

Of the 8 different types of crime listed above, let’s see how many Harlow postcode sectors appear in the top 5 and top 10, rankings:

TOP 5

1 Harlow postcode sector (CM18 7) appears in the top 5 for Vehicle Theft.

TOP 10

6 Harlow postcodes sectors (CM18 7, CM17 9, CM20 3, CM20 1, CM20 3 & CM17 0) appear in the top 10. CM20 3 for possession of weapons, CM18 7 & CM17 0 for Vehicle Theft, & CM17 9, CM20 3 & CM20 1 all for possession of drugs.

Its when we look at the overall crime statistics for Harlow and indeed Essex that we really start to see how many other postcode sectors in Essex have a MUCH HIGHER crime rate than Harlow:

Harlow has ZERO postcode sectors in the top 5 for Essex crime.

Also, Harlow has ZERO postcode sectors in the top 10 for Essex crime.

Finally, Harlow only has 2 postcode sectors in the top 25 for Essex crime. They are CM18 7 and CM20 1.

Harlow only has an additional 3 postcodes sectors in the top 50 for Essex crime. They are CM20 2, CM20 3 & CM18 6.

The remaining 4 postcodes, CM17 0, CM17 0, CM19 4, & CM19 5 rank lower than 50!

Geoff concludes: ” In my opinion, 1 crime is 1 crime too many. However, when you see that there are no Harlow postcodes in the top 10 for Essex and only two sectors in the top 25 and three sectors in the top 50, you surely start to see that Harlow is NOWHERE NEAR AS BAD as many people would have to believe. Harlow really is a decent place to live”.
